Demanding Art.
Demanding Art.
That’s not just our tagline around here — it’s our daily mantra, our collective mission and a constant source of inspiration.
We believe a burgeoning area like York County deserves a creative space that reflects the talent of its arts community and we work hard to make Gallery Up worthy of that call.
While we encourage you to shop local and purchase something handmade this holiday season, we challenge you to creatively “demand art” in your life throughout the year. There is nothing quite as rewarding as surrounding yourself with objects that are imbued with meaning from the hands that created them.
Below are some hand-crafted favorites from the shop. We’d love for you to see more of the wonderful work we are honored to carry so stop by and say hello if you’re in Old Town.
And, for you last minute gift-givers, we are open this Saturday, December 19 from 1 pm to 4 pm and also during our regular hours this coming week. We’ll be open on Thursday until 7 pm (as usual) on Christmas Eve!

Rock Hill ceramicist Paula Smith creates milagros-inspired porcelain charms attached to a hand-stamped, blank card. The charms, traditionally used for prayer, make a personal gift for any occasion.

German-born artist Ute Stiel weaves these wool coaster sets in her home-based studio in Weddington, NC. Decades spent on the loom make these hand-crafted treasures an ideal house-warming gift.

Looking at Rock Hill artist Caroline Rust's intimate plein air paintings of Italy and France is like reading a secret love letter. Send one to yourself or share with a special friend.

Winthrop Jewelry & Metals Professor Courtney Starrett is always on the cutting edge of wearable art and these sophisticated "Suburb" earrings are no exception. An unexpected surprise for the stylish lady in your life!

Local artist Harriet Goode creates one-of-a-kind "hang on" pendants that not only look great but can also hold your eyeglasses. Form and function, there's nothing more delightful.
