As we await our next personal home tour — in which we highlight Gallery Up patrons whose homes are filled with works of fancifully framed fine art (don’t you just love alliteration) — we thought it’d be fun to share some pics from a party we went to this past weekend.
Our hosts were none other than the fabulous Paula Smith and Jim Connell whose home is nestled into a cozy corner of Main Street in Old Town Rock Hill. Both Paula and Jim are local ceramicists, professors and Gallery Up artists and their home is truly an expression of their passion for all things creative. We were invited to a pie party where guests (most of whom were also local artists) were asked to bring along a sweet or savory concoction of their choosing.

Zan and I attempted to recreate my Nonny’s (that what we Italians like to call our grandmothers) infamous “tomato pie” (think pizza without all that mozzarella and you get the basic idea.) I’m proud to say that our recreation wasn’t half bad and we quickly stuffed ourselves with Nonny’s knock-off as well as various artful interpretations of “pie.”
For our after dessert-dessert, we ventured around the property consuming as much eye candy as we could manage! Their home was filled with as much sugar as we were, yet somehow we could have kept on for days.

We could spend all day writing about what an amazing space these two artists have created but the album on our flickr site will show you how futile words can be. Needless to say, we left inspired to create — both in the studio and the kitchen…
